Czechs upset Russians 72-70 to win European Championship

Eva Nemcova nailed a trey with 8 secs to go to win it for the Czechs. Russia then turned the ball over and Viteckova nailed 1/2 FTs for the final scoreline. She led the Czechs with 18 points while Maria Stepanova had 18 and 12 for the Russians. Russia outrebounded the Czechs 41-27 but had 19 turnovers compared to the Czechs' 9. Spain won bronze with a 83-65 win over Lithuania. France got the last European World Champs spot by rolling the Latvians, 85-62.
Maria Stepanova is the Eurobasket 2005 MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by Tatiana Shchegoleva, Amaya Valdemoro and Czechs Hana Machova and Eva Viteckova
