My new, quickfire mock draft
Friday 01 April 2005
The IP scouting service *sniggers* releases their quickfire mock draft. Assumptions made? Currie comes out and Cappie stays in (yes, despite all public media reports, Cappie is not guaranteed to stay in school).
#1 Charlotte – Monique Currie
... because she’s worth it.
#2 Indiana – Janel McCarville
... because they want her badly.
#3 Phoenix – Sandora Irvin
... because she’s a good fit.
#4 San Antonio - Kendra Wecker
... because she’s a perfect fit.
#5 Houston – Tan White
... because Van loves her game.
#6 Washington – Dionnah Jackson
... because the Mystics need a PG (yes, I realise that means it probably won’t happen but suspend your disbelief just for a little bit)
#7 Detroit – Sancho Lyttle
... because with mother Russia’s alleged edict on players and the national team, Osipova is not guaranteed to turn up.
#8 Connecticut – Katie Feenstra
... because size matters!
#9 Sacramento – Jacqueline Batteast
... because the ‘Narchs are obsessed with forwards.
#10 New York – Temeka Johnson
... because Blaze likes to be undersized at every position.
#11 Minnesota – Kristin Haynie
... because Suzie likes her tough PGs.
#12 Seattle – Shyra Ely
... because a UConn/Tennessee player must go first round and Anne is a dodgy drafter
#13 Washington – Kristen Mann
... because she’s a draft sleeper who deserves some attention (see above Mystics entry though)

I haven't heard a thing about Kristen Mann??? Any stats?? And I'm hoping NY picks a SG. It's there most needed position!

Mann averaged 19.5 points and 9.4 rebounds for UCSB. Shot 44% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc.
