Weekend WNBL wrap-up
Sunday 23 January 2005
Sydney beats Adelaide to secure third spot and the home advantage for the 3rd/4th playoff (against Adelaide in 2 weeks time).
Dandenong completes the 3-0 series sweep over Bulleen. They have to be huge favourites for the title. Only Sydney have beaten them this year so far (in Dandenong, funnily enough). If Dandenong reach the grand final, I believe that Sydney has better chance of beating them than Bulleen does. Sydney has a couple of vets with good finals experience (Snell and Fallon) and an experienced coach. Bulleen is lacking in these two departments.
The next night, Belinda Snell sets two WNBL records in Perth - in single game scoring (54) and single game three point FGs made (12). Those 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 9 steals aren't too bad either! All done in the presence of WNBA head coach Mike Thibault (of the Connecticut Sun).
Townsville beats the AIS twice. Apparently Phil Brown had a go at his charges in the second game and Townsville still haven't learnt how to play D.
