Sweet sweet haikus
Saturday 29 March 2003
Yes for my first piece of content, I shamelessly rip off an idea from ozhoops.com... and write haikus based on the NCAA Sweet 16 matchups
Mideast:
(2) Villanova vs (6) Colorado
Patient Nova waits
Bjorklund seeks to dominate
Nova up one-nil
(1)Tennessee vs (4) Penn State
Lady Vols at home
Unbeaten here in big dance
Nothing else to say
East:
(1) Connecticut vs (5) Boston College
DT on fire
Can Eagles extinguish flames?
They failed the first time
(2) Purdue vs (11) Notre Dame
Irish have found form
Could they be first eleven
seed to make last eight?
Midwest:
(1) Duke vs (5) Georgia
Despite no Braxton
Georgia cruise to Sweet Sixteen
But the run stops here
(2) Texas Tech vs (6) New Mexico
The sweet air of home
Invigorates the Lobos
Watch out Texas Tech
West:
(1) LSU vs (5) Louisiana Tech
Some claim that La Tech
Never get any respect
It's time to earn it
(2) Texas vs (6) Minnesota
Crowd will cheer Carey
But Gophers have big win here
Tough matchups abound
Game picks:
Colorado by 6
Tennessee by 18
Connecticut by 7
Purdue by 6
Duke by 15
New Mexico by 4
LSU by 4
Texas by 12

A masterpiece! Tell me you couldn't let some kid hand that in for his/her creative writing class..

Ah, but Haiku traditionally has a reference to nature, as well as the 5-7-5 syllable pattern. I'm tempted to quote this Haiku from Rachel Polankis who was writing on the Link mailing list based at ANU:
While I feel your pain,
You guys write the worst Haiku
Stick to your day jobs!
Best wishes for the revised Insane Platypus!

Wow what an original concept :P
"hehe now now.
If I wanted to follow your trend, I'd start doing haikus!"
